- Mining Engineering
Industrial activities need minerals. In other words, minerals underpin industrial production and development. Extracting minerals require experts. Mining Engineering determines type and form of minerals through extraction and ascertains its economic value, storage amount and the methods to extract it. Digging operations, transferring minerals and other related matters are introduced under sub-discipline of extraction.
Mineral Engineering students, in addition to having interest in minerals research and activity, should be well familiar with mathematics as minerals exploration and extraction depends on mathematical models.
Mineral Engineering graduates could, in addition to the Ministry of Mines, hold positions in ministry of Water and Energy to work on underground water, in Ministry of Public Works to excavate tunnels and in private companies to undertake similar jobs.
